Bouldevines Marlborough Pinot Noir 2010

July 23, 2012By Yvonne

Bouldevines Marlborough Pinot Noir 2010 $29  Created from fruit grown on their stony, Dog Point Road vineyard, this is a wine that is super easy to drink.  Plum, baking spices, hints of red cherry and rhubarb all show through and the tannins are very soft, almost in the background.  A pleasant, drink-now pinot.  www.bouldevines.co.nz

Neudorf Moutere Pinot Gris 2011

July 23, 2012By Yvonne

Neudorf Moutere Pinot Gris 2011 $30  I love the crushed seashell-like minerality which carries the classic white peach, nashi pear and quince characters across the palate.  It’s a clean, juicy wine with a hint of japonica on the finish which lingers with a tasty, tangy texture.  www.neudorf.co.nz

Waimea Nelson Pinot Gris 2011

July 23, 2012By Yvonne

Waimea Nelson Pinot Gris 2011 $19  Hallmark apple and pear characters on both the nose and palate makes this a reasonably pleasant pinot gris, however a hint of extra warmth sneaking through on the finish tends to dull the fruit.

Lake Forsyth Banks Peninsula Pinot Gris 2009

July 23, 2012By Yvonne

Lake Forsyth Banks Peninsula Pinot Gris 2009 $32  I really like this style of pinot gris.  It manages that delicious balance between the dry and mineral notes on the nose and palate and the rich, white peach and quince flavours in the mouth.  There’s a lovely creamy layer of complexity which adds depth and dimension … Read More
