Moy Hall Martinborough Viognier 2021 $50
For the life of me, I do not know the significance of having a beenie-hatted trout dressed in a Swandri carrying an axe on the label, but hey, I’m honestly not caring, because the wine inside is so so good. I love the way the 2021 has a cleansing, freshness to its rich, apricot and apple-stacked palate. Classically floral, with peach blossom and jasmine tones, the textures are dry and toasty and it has lingering generosity on the finish. The only downside is that just tiny amounts of viognier is made by Phill and Carolyn McArthur each year, so it’s a scramble to get it.
