This single-block, single clone wine is named for the couple who established this Bannockburn vineyard, Sue and Bill Arthur “The 2021 Arthur’s is the inaugural release of this wine, having always stood out as a unique and interesting portion of the Bannockburn Estate blend, we felt that the wine could easily hold its own as a single vineyard offering. It’s elegant yet broody, with savoury, cherry and dark chocolate notes sitting amongst firm chalky tannins. One to savour it’s complex and long, with plenty to offer. ‘ – Winemaker Rosie Menzies The northwest-facing aspect and the silty loam soils combine with the own-rooted old vines to carry a unique sense of place into this limited production wine. Hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard, 100% 10/5 clone from 25-year-old vines. De-stemmed to tank, fermented wild using a combination of pump-overs and punch-downs to manage the cap. On skins for 27 days, pressed, settled, and racked to barrels – for 9 months, 15% new.
