Hello Yvonne
It is with mixed feelings that after 22 years in the business John and I have found a great set of future custodians for the special vineyard that is Olssens.
By planting on the now famous Felton Road we became wine making pioneers of the Bannockburn region and the Cromwell basin. We had a vision of creating a distinctive sense of place, and a unique garden vineyard. It has been an interesting and rewarding challenge but we have accomplished all those things, along with producing serious, beautiful, award winning wine year after year.
As of last Monday, Sarah Eliott and Mark Weldon became the owners of Olssens vineyard and the winery, and have committed to invest to carry the mantle of our wines, and of Bannockburn, forward.
Sarah or Mark will shortly be in touch personally to introduce themselves, but have asked me to pass on the following message:
“We would like to thank Heather and John for the vision they showed 22 years ago, in establishing the first vineyard inBannockburn, in a simply incredible spot on Felton Road. The vineyard, Jen Parr the winemaker, and the wines themselves are amazing, and we have every intention of investing to maintain and improve the focus on quality wines. We believe deeply in the vineyard, the old vines, the quality of the Bannockburn sub-region, and the future of the estate. We look forward to meeting you. “
I personally will be continuing with Sarah and Mark, and look forward to seeing you soon.
Kind regards Heather
