2024 was a stormer of a year for Syrah in Hawke’s Bay, and in the little patch of iron-rich, red gravel soils where Grand Edmonds grows his grapes, they thrive under the Bridge Pa sun. Scented with blackcurrant, red cherry, plush plum and gentle peppercorn complexity, it’s an enormously approachable style. So approachable that when you hoist the glass to your mouth, you’ll forget everything your mum told you about stranger danger. You’ll want to be this wine’s best friend from the get-go. Plump, juicy, softly spiced, super-tasty and ready for action.
