This cracker of a gold medal-winning pinot hails from a single site in the Waipara Valley sub-region of North Canterbury. Most famous for its stunning examples of riesling, the region also cranks out truly spectacular pinot noir like this release from the fine folks at Tiki Wines. Crammed with abundant cherry and tamarillo tastiness, the 2023 is smooth and soothing to sip, with subtle smoke notes from well-handled oak maturation. A soft edge of mushroom and dried herbs adds complexity to the mid-palate and elongates the finish. Crack open the pâté and all will be well with the world.
