Carrick Organic Bannockburn Pinot Noir Rosé 2024 $39

Ultra-clean, with hints of creaming soda, salinity, white raspberry, white peach, mandarin and grapefruit pith on the nose and palate, this is a complex, zesty-textured style with fantastic persistence of flavour. Winemakers Rosie Menzies and Zoe Kane (who shepherded their recent wines through to bottle while Rosie was on maternity leave) and their female-centric team were devoted to the task of crafting a deliciously dry, mineral-focused, super-stylish rosé from the 2024 season. Hand picked from their youngest vines and sandiest soils, the wine was matured for 5 months before bottling. They were hoping to ferment the entire lot in barrel, but they ran out of barrels, so this batch includes a 45% tank proportion. Zoe has taken a step sideways to focus on her own vineyard project which is home to a veritable zoo. Cats, kune kune pigs, chickens, sheep, hairy cows and a donkey. How excellent!
