Mora Laeto Central Otago Pinot Noir 2024 $35
Here’s a shiny new pinot designed with the kiwi Summer in mind. “Laeto” is derived from the Latin word for ‘lush’ and ‘joyful’ and this wine is all about not taking things too seriously, heavily, having fun with how bright and juicy and floral and plush pinot can be, especially when it’s been chilled down a smidge. It erupts with boysenberry, dark cherry and soft spices, leading to a soothing yet energetic palate. This single-clone pinot was hand-harvested from Mora’s Felton Terraces vineyard. It was separated into a 50/50 whole bunch and whole berry fermentation using carbonic maceration for a fortnight (that’s where the entire berries are left to begin fermenting inside their skins, a process which heightens the sweetness). Chill down for sunny days.
