Taylors The Visionary Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 $220

Tasted bottle no. 4034

Inky-bright and garnet-dark, this deeply complex, exotically-scented cabernet sauvignon roars with bay, blueberry, fresh tobacco and earthy, dutch cocoa characters. It’s the 7th vintage of ‘Visionary’  which is named after founder Bill Taylor, who had a vision beyond his life in big city hospitality, to purchase 440 acres in the Clare Valley to create a South Australian version of the great wines of Europe, centring everything around cabernet sauvignon. Crafted by Taylors long-time winemaker Adam Eggins, it’s an intensely satisfying and textural wine. Warming and soothing, yet energetic and sparking dark plum, lifted spices and ripe cherry and berry notes, all of which curl around a core of fuzzy tannins that dance under your top lip. Refreshing, youthful and deliciously refined, it’s a wine with a huge future ahead of it. Drink to 2043.
