This flagship shiraz from the Taylors stable is, in a word, otherworldly. Seductive aromas of red liquorice, baking spices, layers of leather and charred plums lead to a palate awash with rich red berries, caramelised smoky oak, pomegranate molasses and balsamic notes. The tannins are plush, and silky, and add depth, weight and complexity to its powerful palate. Fermented in new, 100% American oak barrels, then select parcels of wine were aged for a further two years. This oak impact injects a powerful vanilla layer to the wine, making it an exceptionally powerful, intensely structured shiraz from what’s widely regarded as a ‘perfect’ vintage. Mindblowing.
