‘Waikura’ is a reference to the crimson-red glow in the sky in sunrise and sunset in Te Reo Māori, and as soon as you pour this into your glass you’ll see how the colour is deep and glowing. Crafted using Abel clone fruit which has been soaked on its skins before undergoing a wild fermentation, it’s created a spicy, juicy, redcurrant and cranberry-crammed wine that’s got interest and vibrancy. Made by winemaker Jannine Rickards, it’s one of the most exciting rosés I’ve tasted in ages. Prawn Cocktail? Perfect!
