Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Chardonnay 2020 $39.99
The dream team of Warren Gibson and Damian Fischer strike again with a chardonnay crafted with class. Erupting with grilled nectarine, grapefruit pith, creme brulee and buttered crumpet characters, its core of citrus and peach is stitched together with toasted almonds and nicely tweaked acid tension. It’s a delicious drink now, but I’d be putting another bottle or six away for another year or five because this has ‘long haul reward’ written all over it.
Sourced from their Tin Shed and Winery blocks, it’s a collage of clones 15, 95, Mendoza and 548, hand-harvested and wild-fermented in 500l French oak puncheons, (60% new), followed by 12 months in barrel before being blended to tank for seven months of sleepy time before being bottled in October 2021 without fining.
