Kelly Washington Central Otago Pinot Noir 2018 ($55)

Created by winemaker Tamra Kelly, this is a lightly-styled, but full-flavoured and highly floral pinot noir that’s been crafted gently from fruit grown in Central Otago’s Gibbston Valley. Handpicked, partially whole-bunch fermented and matured for 11 months in French oak, it’s a gently-styled, raspberry and redcurrant-laced example that’s silky, lush and incredibly versatile in terms of food pairing. It’ll also appeal to even those who shy away from red wines due to their tannins – this wine is soft and velvety.

Paired with: Zucchini Trifolati in dish Magazine Issue 102

It may sound like an odd combo on paper, but this silky, zesty zucchini paired with the plush, lush Kelly Washington Central Otago Pinot Noir 2018 ($55) is a perfect combo on the palate. Handpicked, partially whole-bunch fermented and aged for 11months in French oak, it’s a softly spiced, redcurrant and tamarillo-centric sip that’s crazy-good with courgettes.
