Sparkling gewürztraminer is a very rare thing to find, so it’s exciting to see that a tiny, Blenheim producer is having a crack at it. Called rosé as the juice has taken on the dusky pink hue of the gewürztraminer berries, it’s a dry, full style that has a faint florality to the nose and a highly spiced mid-palate. Unique and edged with citrus, it’s a celebratory fizz that’ll appeal to lovers of bold bubbles. Unfined before bottling, this clear bottle is differentiated from the Black bottles carrying the same name as boasting a small, 4g/l sugar dosage. Slightly angular, it will soften with time.
