Two Rivers Clos Des Pierres Marlborough Chardonnay 2020 $30
Made by Dave Clouston, this unique take on chardonnay was hand-harvested, aged for approximately a year in a combo of a large, 4500 ltr French oak fudre and a concrete egg with a 100% malolactic ferment before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Hence why this feijoa and lemon scented, triple-clone chardonnay has a hazy appearance and loads of white nectarine and smoked spices are cloaked around chompy acidity and dried herb layers in the mid-palate. Grown in the Brookby Hill and Spring vineyards of Marlborough’s Southern and Wairau Valleys, and translated to ‘place of stones’, the Clos Des Pierres is both unconventional and fabulously feral.
