Rockburn Eleven Barrels Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019 $96

Just eleven barrels of the very best pinot noir harvested from Rockburn’s Parkburn vineyard were surrounded with large road cones and strict instructions by winemaker Malcolm Rees-Francis “No Touching!”.  The result is a wine plump with courage and character, deep cherry notes, a hint of rosehip tea, earthy tones and a dusting of wild thyme. Parkburn is part of the Lowburn, Pisa sub-region and pinot from those gentle slopes tend to show heightened florals and impressive minerality on the finish. It’s a lovely thing to drink now, but it’s seeming to me like a lovely little slow-burn for the cellar.
