A cracker of a red created by sickeningly handsome winemaking couple, Kate Galloway and David Ramonteau – this wine has beautifully fragrant rosemary, roast beef, dark chocolate, espresso, plum, berry and molasses characters. I love the texture of this wine in the mouth with finely-grained tannins and excellent length of flavour. Obviously the experts were impressed as well because it was selected to be part of the prestigious ‘Gimblett Gravels Selection’ from the 2009 vintage, where only 12 of the best wines are selected to showcase the region at major tastings overseas. www.alluviale.com
