Released this month, this is, I’m pretty certain, my favourite ‘starlet’ release ever. Concentrated, crunchy-fresh and citrus-stacked. Central Otago sauvignon is one of the best-kept secrets in the land. Why? Because great examples like this heave with flavour and take people by surprise. I love the jalapeño, gooseberry, and peachy punchiness in this wine, while its passionfruity plumpness, fresh acidity and bouncy mouthfeel make it dangerously delicious to drink. There’s also a hint of Golden Delicious apple and feijoa frolicking around in there too. Indian spiced spinach curry? Yes. Yes indeed.
