Morton Estate Black Label Gisborne Chardonnay 2016 $19.99

So here’s where things get really tricky because Lion, (the company that sent me this wine to review) say that it’s recommended retail price (rrp) is $19.99.  Yet when you Google this wine, some websites, like www.thegoodwine.co.nz say “rrp $34.99 – but our price $16.99”.  www.blackmarket.co.nz have it at $16.99 with no mention of it having a higher rrp.  It’s a good wine.  A really good wine.  It was given a Five Star rating in Cuisine magazine’s 2018 Chardonnay tasting and apparently it was voted No.2 best NZ Chardonnay.  I think that’s going a bit far personally – although if you’re looking at value for money, maybe they’re right.  With aromas of toasted coconut sprinkled on grapefruit and flavours that add creamy, nutty nuances alongside a big punch of peach – it’s seriously attractive, for not much cash.  www.vineonline.co.nz also have it for $16.99.  My question is where on earth did www.thegoodwine.co.nz get that $34.99 price from?
