Shiny-bright and new, yet from such a strong vintage, this wine carries exotic spices, plush, earthy flavours, a seam of vibrant cherry notes, dark plum, berry tea, black tea and all manner of lush, forest floor characters. Crafted by Dave Clouston, from fruit sourced from vines grown in the Brookby Hill vineyard in Marlborough’s Southern Valley’s, the wine has been carefully hand-harvested, fermented wild in French Oak cuves and not fined or filtered to capture the essential, original fruit intensity and the elegantly managed oak and maturation regime. It’s a vibrantly energetic, yet concentrated style that is drinking deliciously now, but in a decade? Wow.
