Brookfields Hillside Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2023 $60 
Since its first release in 2000, the Bridge Pa-grown Hillside has cemented itself as one of New Zealand’s most refined and stylish Syrah’s. Crafted by Peter Robertson, who’s been making wine in Hawke’s Bay since the 1970’s, this is a sublimely earthy, pepper-laced, smoked blueberry-saturated example. Softly spiced, with suede-like textures and velvety tannins. Classy and destined to develop nicely.
