Blackenbrook Nelson Pinot Blanc 2020 $27

Blackenbrook’s owners Daniel and Ursula Schwarzenbach are ultra-chuffed to have scooped the trophy for the ‘Other White Wine Varieties’ class at the New Zealand International Wine Show at its recent awards announcement. This is the winery’s second vintage of Pinot Blanc and their pinot blanc’s second trophy in prestigious competitions honouring alternative white wines – so clearly they’re onto a winner with this variety and it’s developing some serious pedigree. So what makes a pinot blanc great? Well it’s got to heave with summer florals, bright apple and pear notes, soft apricot aromatics and show buckets of fresh honeysuckle. This 2020 vintage has that in spades. Silky-textured, feisty and dangerously refreshing. Love it! It’s a star.
